The Palace of Russian Dining

The Palace of Russian Dining is built in style of the famous wooden palaces in the Kolomenskoe and Izmailovo Estates of the Russian Tsar Aleksei Mikhailovich Romanov.

Architectural and ornamental elements of the Palace link us with the 17th century which was the triumph of wooden architecture in Russia. Inside the Palace there are huge dining rooms and traktirs for 1000 guests, where one can taste traditional and modern cuisine of different Russian nationalities.

The front of the Palace is decorated by stairs, balconies and terraces for watching celebrations and holidays on the main squares of the Kremlin in Izmailovo. The Palace is connected by covered gallery with a tower which faces Moscow’s Fourth Transport Ring. Interiors of the Palace are decorated in style of traditional Russian crafts: Khokhloma and Palekh, which combine elements of royal palaces and peasant houses. In banquet rooms you can celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, weddings and other events. The Palace’s basement is connected by underground passage with the Church of St. Nicholas. In the basement there are ancient-styled wine-cellars, and even an imitation of mediaeval torture chambers.

The top of the Palace is decorated with the small family emblem of the Romanov Tsar Dynasty, which has a figure of legendary gryphon on it. This symbol of gryphon holding a shield and a sword in its arms was brought by the Dynasty from Lithuania, but its origin lies in the mountains of Altai region where, according to the ancient Greek myths, the gryphons stood guard over the gold.
